>> i do not know exactly how this happened. it >> we are told the baby is recovering this morning. the baby's grandfather, who did not want to go on camera, says the bullet came through their living room window and hit the child. da linthe shooting happened around philip near the intersection of first street and macdonald avenue in richmond. police say, the gunman was on foot. and also wounded another person on a bike. that person is believed to have been the intended target. >> a head on collision in richmond sends seven people to the hospital. three remain in critial condition this morning. police say, a camaro crashed head-on into a chevy pickup at high speed, flipping the truck and injuring people from both vehicles. it happened last night on south 37th street. officals say, one female, who was ejected from the camaro, was severely injured. police are now investigating reports that the camaro was speeding and whether that contributed to the crash. police are also looking into

whether alcohol or drugs played a role. >> one person is in the hospital this morning following an overnight shooting in san francisco's alamo square neighborhood. it happened around 12-30 this morning in the area of fell and pierce streets. the victim was transported to a local hospital and the extent of their injuries is not known at this time. no suspect information has been released at this hour. authorities are investigating how *two people died after their bodies were found at two different beaches yesterday. the first body--a female-- was found at the emeryville beach around seven a-m by a jogger. the second body was found floating in the surf off ocean beach in san francisco around 7-30. the gender on the second victim has not yet been released. police are investigating if the two deaths are related. autopsies are planned for both victims. >> in san mateo county. people driving through the brand- new tunnels along devil's slide today. will likely see some lane closures. this morning between nine a- m and three p-m cal-trans

says, crews will be doing additional lane striping to improve driver safety. the new tunnels along highway- one near pacifica. officially opened to the public earlier this week. the federal government accountability office is giving good grades to the california high-speed rail authority's business plan. a new report released yesterday says that the ridership forecast for the future high-speed rail is reasonable. the rail authority says the biggest hurdle remains money -- and a funding gap of 39- billion dollars is unlikely to be filled. rail officials plan to start work on the first strech of track this summer. they will not start other segments until funding is secured. changing gears to wall street. traders are celebrating another milestone this morning as the s-and-p 500 closed at a record high yesterday. the s-and-p rose six points to close at 1,569. beating the mark it set back in october of 2007. the dow rose 52 points to

14, 578. and the nasdaq was also up 11 points. markets will be closed today in honor or good friday. north korea's leader kim jung un says that his rocket forces are on standby. it's a response to the u-s sending a pair of b-two bombers to take part in military exercises with south korea. it's the latest show of force in response to growing threats from north korea. earlier this week, north korea leaders said they were cutting off a key military hotline with south korea.saying it was because war could "break out at any minute". we'll be right back here on the kron four morning news. and here's a live look outside.san mateo bridge. outside.san mateo bridge.

>> welcome back. the san francisco fire department showed off its first brand new firehouse in more than 40 years. this folsom street building. replaces the old fire station. which was one of the busiest firehouses in the nation. the new seismically safe facility cost 12- million dollars. the construction was mostly paid for. by the san francisco museum of modern art, in exchange for the land under the old station house on howard street. the museum will use that land as part of its expansion. the financial powerhouse charles schwab, who is also the museum's chairman. says it is a great deal. >> this was a fantastic gift from the sky. .

>> here's a rendering of what the new museum expansion will look like. it's expected to open in 2016. >> instead of taking the stage thursday night-- alternative folk singer "michelle shocked" sat outside a santa cruz nightclub in a protest against the cancellation of her show. she was dressed in a white, disposable safety suit with tape across her mouth reading "silenced by fear." it all started earlier this month, when she ranted on stage against same-sex marriage at a club in san francisco. shocked says she was misunderstood and was only describing what many christians believe about homosexuality. >> redding police are asking for the public's help in finding a suspect in a clumsy burglary attempt earlier this month police released this surveillance video on wednesday showing a man

more bad news for california water users. the snow pack is just *half the amount of normal and has already begun to melt. after a wet fall, the state recorded the driest january and february on record. and march didn't fare much better. measurements taken thursday show 28 and a half inches of snow at 76-hundred feet with a water content of just over a foot. the department of water resources says reservoir storage will meet most of this year's needs but they caution that successive dry years could result in a drought. it's been three months since the tragedy at sandy hook elementary school president obama took advantage of the anniversary to renew his push for gun control laws. tory dunnan has more. house democratic leader nancy pelosi was in san francisco. she is also speaking out about the need for gun control laws. and she had some harsh remarks about the national rifle association. pelosi's office is planning to deliver a reform on gun control laws next week. a campaign started in tucson arizona is promising *free shotguns for people to protect themselves. the armed citizen project says this could be the solution to tucson's crime problem. they want to give shotguns to single women and homeowners. it costs four-hundred dollars for each participant to receive a shotgun and weapons training. the campaign has already raised 12-thousand dollars. the armed citizen project seeks to arm neighborhoods in 15 cities by the end of the year. health officials are urging seven-thousand patients of an oklahoma dentist to take h-i-v tests. they say they might have been exposed to viruses at clinics where major violations were found. the operator of those

clinics has voluntarily closed his practice and is cooperating with investigators. patients are getting letters - urging them to be tested. officials say it's rare for infections to spread in occupational settings -- but they don't want to take any chances. today, the obama administration will unveil a proposal to reduce sulfur in gasoline. officials will also propose tightening emissions standards on cars beginning in 2017. the oil industry says gas prices could go up by six to nine cents a gallon because of this. but the environmental protection agency estimates the increase is more like a penny a gallon and an additional $130 to the cost of a vehicle in 2025. a public charter high school in chicago has earned some more bragging rights. every one of the 167 graduating seniors from urban prep charter academy for young men has been accepted to a four-year college or university. the students were honored in a ceremony yesterday. it's the fourth straight year the entire senior class has been accepted into college. many of the them come from low-income neighborhoods on chicago's south side. chicago mayor rahm emanuel was there, and praised the students and school. we'll be right back here on the kron four morning news. and here's a live look ♪

>> the family of a san jose woman, who police believe was murdered by her former boyfriend. is speaking out. 29- year-old sandra cruzes was allegedly stabbed to death by juan ramirez. now the family says, ramirez had been stalking and threatening cruces for months, despite a restraining order against him. >> she broke it off. he wanted to stay with her. he would still fall her round her job wherever she would go. he said that if your not going to be mine you are not going to be anybody's and that he would kill her and kill herself and kill himself. she was waiting for her tax returns and wanted to get a gun. she was going to get a gun because she felt scared to the point

where she needed a gun. the suspect, is still on the loose. the suspect - this man -juan ramirez is still on the loose. investigators say he may be attempting to flee to mexico. they also say, he is possiby driving a dark green, 1996 toyota t-100 pickup truck. similar to the one you see on your screen. anyone with information is asked to call the san jose police. there is a shooting and alamo and one person is in the hospital. the victim was transported to hospital and the extent of the injuries is not known. and the san mateo county, there will likely be lane closures. caltrain will be additional lane striping to help with

around the bay area as well this morning. finally, the low $4. >> there are going to be a lot of happy people. gas prices are under $4 per gallon. more good news for anybody who has to fill up. we are starting to see gas prices dropped across the country and across the state and california. let's face it, we pay more. there was a huge spike. the average of california is right at $4 for sense which it is still degreasing. however, san francisco still, $4.13. the national average is sitting at 3-64 for a regular gallon of gas while the state average is at $4.04 right

changing gears to wall street. >> traders are celebrating another milestone this morning as the s-and-p 500 closed at a record high yesterday. the s-and-p rose six points to close at 1,569. beating the mark it set back in october of 2007. the dow rose 52 points to 14, 578. and the nasdaq was also up 11 points. in honor or good friday. >> facebook has out-grown it's current home. the social media giant has the go-ahead from the city of menlo park to build a second campus near its current headquarters. the city council voted 4-0 to let the company move forward with its plans. facebook says expansion will allow them to employ thousands more people. the plans call for a 430- thousand-square-foot building on a 22-acre site. the council also approved a package of land use

entitlements and an environmental impact report related to the project. mark zuckerberg is expected to owe the i-r-s more than a billion dollars in taxes for 20-12. the momentous bill stems from his decision to exercise a stock option and buy more than 60 million facebook shares when the site went public. even though we don't know exactly what he'll owe, it is known that the i-r-s will treat his stock options as income, which translates to roughly two billion dollars. zuckerberg knew the giant tax bill was coming, so he sold more than 30-million shares during facebook's i- p-o to cover it, according to a facebook regulatory filing. >> google is getting into the grocery business. the new service, called google shopping express, will initially provide same- day delivery of food and other products bought online by a small group of consumers in san francisco and suburbs located south of the city. if the pilot program goes well, google says it will

expand delivery service to other markets. the delivery service is part of google's effort to increase people's reliance on the internet so it will have more opportunities to show online ads, which generate most of its revenue. in addition to local merchants, major retailers such as target and walgreens are enlisting in google's delivery service. >> incoming college freshmen could end up paying 5-thousand dollars more for loans, if congress does not keep interest rates from doubling. due to the mandatory budget cuts. interest rates are set to double after july 1st. leaders in both parties say, they want to dodge the increase. but neither party's budget proposal in congress. has money specifically set aside to keep student loans at their current rate. we'll be right back here on the kron four morning news. the kron four morning news.

walnut creek >> top stories we are following for you on this friday march 29th. a one year old boy is recovering this morning after being shot while he sat on the floor of an apartment in richmond. now police are offering a 25-thousand dollar reward fast for the wanted gunman.who is still on the loose this morning. police say he was with his grandparents when he was struck by a bullet fragment. the baby is expected to be okay. >> and the giants are set to take on the a's again tonight in the bay bridge series as baseball makes it way back to the bay area. over 40-thousand were in attendance to last night's practice game at a-t-t park. the world series champions lost to the a's seven to three. tonight's game is at 7-15 at a-t-t park.

our attention to the east bay it is going to be a nice sunny day in downtown san francisco. as i mentioned there are changes to talk about. we did see isolated storms but that is currently out of the picture. areas of dense fog through the south bay also with that fog. a stronger system over the gulf of alaska that will approach from the south. that rain will rotate towards the saturday night. keeping your umbrella handy. we will see the increase in clouds. and 9:00 a.m., possible rain for the south bay communities. gradually we could see more rain through fairfield and

maps quiet on the east bay. for and the north way through the golden gate toll plaza also looking decent. the walnut creek police department is facing a shortage in officers like many other bay area police departments. police chief joel bryden say his department no longer has a motorcycle team and the downtown policing team working due to the cuts. also chief bryden says some long term investigation have been put on hold so detectives can help patrol the streets. but he does not want residents to feel that the city will be unsafe. >> we have as many people of terror during the day that we used to. it is a still a safe city but we still want to make it better. fastfewer officers on the street. just one reason walnut creek police chief joel bryden
